When electronic producer DJ Spooky and I began working on this one-movement remix of Heart Of A Forest, we set out to frame a driving rhythmical texture within the world of acoustic orchestral instruments. As the violin soars over the orchestra, embellishing and imitating, like bird-calls in a forest—with moments inspired by the final movement of “Autumn” from Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons—there is a hypnotic forward motion that propels the music to a dynamic and darkly animated close.
