This album features “Partita for Solo Violin” which Philip wrote for me, here in its world-premiere recording along with solo violin music from Einstein on the Beach, the interludes from the Second Violin Concerto, and the solo violin music from Book of Longing.

I began my collaboration with Philip Glass In 2007 when I joined a tour for his “Book of Longing,” a song-cycle set to poems by Leonard Cohen. Since that time, we’ve collaborated extensively, performing and recording his Double Concerto for Violin & Cello, working with the Glass Chamber players, and touring extensively together in a Duo program. The “Partita for Solo Violin” is the central work around which our duo performances are based, and I’ve also incorporated the Partita into my multisensory evening performance “Portals.”
