The Bones was inspired by the score I composed for this stop-motion short film from Chilean directors Cristóbal León and Joaquín Cociña. Although in many respects the film is jarring, brash, and darkly funny, there is a touching sweetness about the way the “Girl” is portrayed. I intended to capture this sweetness in the film’s music, particularly in the first and final cues, on which this work for violin and piano is based.
